Websites & Web Shops

Not everyone views your website with a mouse and perfect eyesight. We design and build websites that also work with a keyboard, a screen reader or magnification, following the WCAG guidelines. Good for your visitors, your search visibility and increasingly a legal requirement too.

Accessible from the first design

Adding accessibility afterwards is difficult and expensive. That is why we include it from the start: sufficient colour contrast, legible type, clear focus states, buttons that are large enough and forms with clear labels and error messages. In the build we take care of a logical heading structure, semantic HTML, alt texts and keyboard-only navigation.

Laws and regulations, plainly explained

Government bodies have had to comply with the WCAG guidelines for some time. Since 28 June 2025, the European Accessibility Act also applies to many digital products and services for consumers, such as web shops and online bookings. We help you assess what that means for you and make sure your website is technically sound. For legal questions you bring in a lawyer; we take care of the design and the technology.

What is WCAG?

WCAG stands for Web Content Accessibility Guidelines: the international guidelines for accessible websites and apps. They are built around four principles: perceivable, operable, understandable and robust. Level AA is the common standard in Europe.

Does my website have to be accessible?

For government bodies and many public organisations it is mandatory. Due to the European Accessibility Act it also applies to many businesses that sell products or services online to consumers; there are exemptions for the smallest companies. And even if it is not mandatory for you, it is smart: you reach more people and your site becomes more pleasant for everyone.

Will my website become boring?

Not at all. Accessible does not mean grey and bare. It is about contrast, structure and operation, not about leaving out good design or animation. Animations do respect your visitor's 'reduce motion' setting.
