IT and innovation in a logistics world that runs 24/7

BCTN is one of the largest inland container terminal networks in the Benelux. In 2018 BCTN asked us to help introduce a new truck app. It records departure, arrival, unloading and uncoupling times at customers' sites.

We looked beyond that one app and helped shape the IT strategy. That's how we became BCTN's external innovation coordinator. We helped redesign the IT service framework and the innovation strategy.

We led the development of hardware and software systems, such as the speedgates, the truck app, the portal and the e-CMR. We joined key internal meetings, including the management team. And we stayed involved in developing the terminals in the Netherlands and Belgium.

We built the complete QHSE platform. The dashboard shows a tile per area: Crane, Reach stacker, Safety walk and Take 5, next to the recent updates, for instance about a new reach stacker. A checklist starts with the machine code and the hour reading and then runs in numbered steps; for each item you choose OK, Not OK non-urgent or Not OK urgent, with room for a note. Every week the platform automatically sends a QHSE report per terminal, with the number of completed machine checklists and safety walks and the items that need attention.

Checks that are filled in at the terminal itself, and a weekly overview per terminal that arrives by itself.
