For TOY4Participation, a European project within the ISSA network, we contributed to the branding and created the website and an interactive treasure hunt about child participation: you explore the chapters playfully on a map, share what you already do and unlock the treasure chest at the end. In nine languages.

Even the youngest children deserve a say in what affects them. TOY4Participation didn't just want to tell that story, but to get people to take part in it. So we turned it into a treasure hunt.

TOY4Participation is a European project within the network of ISSA, the International Step by Step Association. It champions child participation, in early childhood settings and in local Play Hubs. That story had to reach parents and everyone who works with young children, ideally in a way that gets them to join in.

We contributed to TOY4Participation's visual identity, with fresh turquoise, warm yellow shapes and images of children in action. Then we built the website, with Sanity as the CMS and animations in GSAP and Lottie: a floating treasure chest and keys signal on the homepage already that there is something to discover.

At its heart is an interactive treasure hunt that takes you on a playful adventure through the pages. On a map you follow four short chapters: what child participation is, why it matters, what it looks like and what you may already be doing without calling it that. In each chapter you choose which practices you already use and which you want to try.

Complete the hunt and you unlock the treasure chest: as a thank-you, you download the TOY4Participation toolkit, with activity cards and case studies. On the community page you see live which practices others already use and which they most want to try. A separate page translates the story into policy.

That makes the quest an engagement funnel, from first click to active participant, in nine languages, from Bulgarian and Italian to Latvian and Ukrainian.
